SMILE EM 10 CANÇÕES
Neste Semônica uma crônica, tipo rádio resenha, trazendo canções em inglês, que falam de smile, em formas de sorriso, maneiras e possibilidades de sorrir e continuar sorrindo. Escolhida para iniciar a crônica, “When you´re smiling “é uma composição de Joe Goodwin, Mark Fisher, que foi lançada na voz de Louis Armstrong, em 1929.” When you’re smilin’, when you’re smiling, The whole world smiles with you. when you’re laughin’, when you’re laughin’. The sun comes shinin’ through”.
A música seguinte, e muito conhecida, é “The shadow of your smile” de Paul Webster e JohnMandel, que recebeu várias gravações, incluindo a de Barbra Streisand (1965) e Chris Montez (1966) com arranjos de Herb Alpert, ambas em bossa nova.” The shadow of your smile. Em 1968, mesmo ano de lançamento de Hey Jude dos Beatles, que ficou no top one da Billboard, surgiu a canção “Smile little smile for me” de Geoff Stephens, Tony Macaulay, cantada pelo The Flying Machine, entrando no grupo das 70 mais tocadas.” Are you free to try again. Presente em um dos mais inspirados álbuns de James Taylor, o JT de 1977, “Your smiling face” é a música de abertura do lado 1. “Whenever I see your smiling face I have to smile myself. Because I love you, yes, I do. And when you give me that pretty little pout. It turns me inside out. There’s something about you, baby.I don’t know”.
Justin BIeber era ainda um adolescente de 16 anos, quando lançou a romântica “U Smile” ((Justin Bieber, Jerry Duplessis, Arden Altino e Dan August Rigo), em 2010, cantando e tocando piano. ”I wait on you. Forever. Any day. Hand and foot. Your world. Is my world. Yeah. Ain’t no way. You ever. Gonna get any. Less than you should. ‘Cause baby. You smile. I smile.”
“The way you smile”, composta por Eddie Carswell e Russell Wesley Lee Jr, é uma canção de 2011, que a cantora novaiorquina Francesca Battistelli divide a interpretação com o grupo New Song. “The way you open the door you always see about me. Treat me like I’m a princess boy you’re so sweet. Love the way that I feel when I’m in your arms. You whisper «You’re beautiful» so safe and warm. There’s a million more, these are just a few. Of the many reasons I love you. But there’s something about the way you smile “.
“Unbreakable smile” é a canção que batiza o primeiro álbum da cantora, compositora e produtora Tori Keller, de 2015. “You’re the one being deceived. I see right behind the mask. “Just to see you smile”, de Glenn Martin, é interpretada pelo cantor country de Nashville, Tim McGraw, em seu album Everywhere de 1997. “Just to see you smile.

“Can´t smile without”, de David Martin, Geoff Morrow, Chris Arnold virou um grande sucesso na voz de Barry Manilow, batizando seu LP de 1978. “You know I can’t smile without you. I can’t smile without you. I can’t laugh and I can’t sing. I’m finding it hard to do anything. You see, I feel sad when you’re sad. I feel glad when you’re glad. If you only knew what I’m going through. I just can’t smile without you”.
Composta por Charles Chaplin, para trilha sonora do seu filme Tempos Modernos, de 1936, “Smile” recebeu depois a letra de John Turner e Geoffrey Parsons, tornando-se um grande clássico da música mundial. Ficou famosa na voz de Nat King Cole que gravou em 1954.” Smile, though your heart is aching. Smile even though it’s breaking. When there are clouds, in the sky, you’ll get by.
